2025 National Women’s Month Celebration
The Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources – National Marine Fisheries Development Center (BFAR-NMFDC) proudly supports the nation in celebrating the 2025 National Women’s Month Celebration (NWMC) through conducting an on-site orientation on Gender and Development (GAD) and Financial Literacy training for women fisherfolk from Malabon and Navotas, along with BFAR-NMFDC staff. This event took place at the BFAR-MCS Station, Navotas Fish Port Complex, Navotas City on March 7, 2025.
The training offered participants a comprehensive overview of GAD concepts, emphasizing the importance of gender equality and the diverse roles of women in society and everyday life.
Further, the Financial Literacy Program covered a wide range of topics, including saving strategies, budgeting, debt management, and an introduction to basic financial such as deposit accounts and microinsurance. Participants also received guidance on generating additional income through micro-entrepreneurship and learned about their rights and responsibilities as financial consumers, including how to protect themselves against scams.
The Financial Literacy training was structured around five key messages, known as the 5Ms for fisherfolk:
1. Maging mapagkalinga sa karagatan (Be nurturing to the oceans)
2. Mag-impok para sa kinabukasan (Save for the future)
3. Magpalago ng kita sa pamamagitan ng pagne-negosyo (Increase your income through business ventures and additional skills)
4. Mag-seguro para protektado (Be insured to be protected)
5. Maging matalino sa pag-utang (Be wise with debt)
Maraming Salamat and Congratulations po sa Top 3 na nanalo sa Fish N’ Learn Game at naka-received ng mga papremyo.
